Michael P. Hellman, Partner
After graduating from the John Marshall Law School and being licensed to practice law in 1999, Michael began advocating on behalf of victims of work accidents and personal injuries.
"It was very early on in my law school career that I realized that I wanted to represent the injured party, the little guy, and not the almighty insurance companies. Not only had I excelled in the law school courses of Torts I and Torts II, but I was clerking for a small personal injury and workers comp firm in Chicago during law school. I quickly realized how gratifying it was to help people struggling after suffering an accident."
A lifelong resident of Illinois, Michael received his undergraduate degree from Roosevelt University in 1995 and his law degree from John Marshall Law School in 1999.
While Michael lives and predominantly works out of the Fox Valley, he has significant ties to Chicago after practicing there for over 15 years.
Michael practices primarily in the area of Workers' Compensation disputes and has achieved noted success for his injured client's before the Workers' Compensation Commission, the Circuit Courts of Cook and Kane counties and the Appellate Court of Illinois. Also, Michael represents numerous clients before the Social Security Administration in their attempts to obtain Social Security Disability benefits.
"I firmly believe that zealous advocacy and artful legal skills comprise only part of the successful legal representation of a client. Consistent communication and collaboration between the attorney and the client is paramount to the positive outcome of that case."
A longtime member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Michael is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Kane County and Chicago Bar associations and the Worker's Compensation Lawyers Association. Michael is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Tennessee. From 2008 to 2009, Michael held the Chair Person position of the Workers' Compensation Committee for the Chicago Bar Association.
Michael has been previously recognized by his peers as a Rising Star, Leading Lawyer and Super Lawyers.
During his limited free time, Michael and his wife donate their time and resources to the Lazarus House in St. Charles and are strong supporters of animal rescue causes through the American Animal Rescue Society and various local animal shelters.
